Flag-In Ceremony of “Sulabh Swachhata Pahadon Ki Ore” Campaign at Parmarth

At the sacred premises of Parmarth Niketan, the team promoting cleanliness and health in the remote regions of the Himalayas conducted a Flag-In Ceremony in the holy presence of Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati Ji. The Ice Axe, the symbol of the campaign, was presented to Swami Ji by the team.

The campaign started from Joshimath and carried out intensive cleanliness drives in sacred locations including Ghangharia, Valley of Flowers, Hemkund Sahib, Badrinath Dham, Mana Village, Bhimpul, and the Saraswati River. Team leaders Rajiv Rawat, Anamika Bisht, Prem Thakur, Sudhanshu Verma, Laxman Dongriyal, and Virendra Rana actively engaged with local communities to raise awareness.

Pujya Swami Ji emphasized the need to move from a “Use & Throw” culture to a “Use & Grow” approach. He urged everyone to follow the principles of Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. He highlighted that the Himalayas are not only geographically significant but also hold immense spiritual and cultural importance as the source of life-giving rivers and a foundation of Indian heritage.

The campaign sends a strong message that when dedicated youth and visionary leadership come together, even the most sensitive regions of the Himalayas can be kept clean and preserved. Pujya Swami Ji honored the trekking team with a Rudraksha plant and highlighted how this initiative reflects Indian culture, social responsibility, and spiritual values.

The campaign was organized jointly by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and Sulabh International Social Service Organization.
