Mayor of Louisville, KY Presents Pujya Swamiji with Key to City
During a special function in Louisville, Kentucky, USA the Mayor of Louisville presented Pujya Swamiji with the “Key” to the City of Louisville. In his speech, the mayor Mr. Greg Fischer said that the people of Louisville feel so blessed that Pujya Swamiji visits them and graces their city with His presence. So they presented Pujya Swamiji with the official “Key” of the City so that it could be Pujya Swamiji’s second home. The Mayor told Pujya Swamiji: “We want you to know how important you are to the City of Louisville. Whenever you come here you inspire so, so many people. We would be very happy to make you an honorary citizen of Louisville.”
Pujya Swamiji said that Indian culture believes in Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam, the world is one family. He said, “What the world needs today is more people, particularly more youth, who realize inner peace through spirituality and then they can share that peace, spread that peace and exude that peace in the world. People today are living in pieces, not in peace, because they are so focused on themselves, their own desires and their own expectations. In order to have peace in the world we need to turn our focus from ‘I’ to ‘We.’ That is the beautiful teaching of Indian culture. The world is our family.”
Mayor Fisher also brought a special Proclamation from the Government of the State of Kentucky stating that the 20th July would forever be proclaimed as the Day of the Encyclopedia of Hinduism, as it was on that day that the set of the international edition was unveiled in Louisville. Pujya Swamiji gifted Mayor Fisher with a set for the City Library.
