Rally for Rivers in Haridwar

Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji joined Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Trivendra Singh Rawatji, Pujya Swami Ramdevji, Pujya Swami Harichetananandji, Pujya Acharya Balkrishanji and many other saints, pilgrims, devotees and citizens to welcome and support Sadguru Jaggi Vasudevji to the sacred banks of Mother Ganga as the Rally for Rivers campaign reached Haridwar.

A clarion call from all the eminent dignitaries was made to protect our sacred water bodies, plant trees on all special occasions and festivals live more sustainably as well as implement policies at the grand level that would ensure that our sacred lifelines are protected for our future generations. It was shared that when faith leaders took a pledge towards a common cause the results would be for the well being and welfare of all.

On the occasion Pujya Swamiji shared, “Maili Ganga, Maili Nadiyo ke liye this Rally is the need of the hour, to inspire a people’s movement because if Ganga thrives, India thrives and if Ganga dies, India dies. Ganga is an Ambassador for all the rivers of this nation. Hence, its crucial to protect all of our fresh water bodies and all our life giving rivers.” He further emphasised that pollution caused from open defection, over extraction and over exploitation of these natural resources as well as the wide spread cases of malnourishment, waterborne illnesses and stunting are all interconnected. Hence protecting rivers is synonymous with protecting our own lives. The Global Interfaith WASH Alliance (GIWA) and Ganga Action Parivar (GAP), of which He is the Founder, have been working tirelessly for many years for the conservation of our sacred Rivers as well bringing the power of faiths together for improving water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) for all.

Pujya Swamiji offered a green Rudraksha sapling and a green Elachi Mala with all of the the revered saints and dignitaries to Pujya Jaggi Vasudevji for his green leadership. They also joined together in lighting the lamp that symbolised the light of hope and action for this vital cause.
