Visiting the Disaster Zone: Pujya Swamiji and Vivek Oberoi Travel to the Heart of Uttarakhand’s Flood Zone

Pujya Swamiji and renowned Bollywood actor Shri Vivek Oberoi visited areas of Guptakashi, Uttarakhand, which are still recovering from the devastating floods of last summer. While there, they distributed warm blankets and clothes for the families whose homes and lives had been destroyed by the floods.

They also met with widows and other locals, to listen to their needs and to understand the challenges and obstacles they face as they rebuild their lives. Afterwards, they surveyed and planned for how best to serve the affected villages so that they can inspire green and sustainable rehabilitation. During their trip, they also visited Kedarnath, the epicenter of the June floods, to plan for its green restoration, including the plantation of a smriti van (memorial orchard) in memory of those who tragically lost their lives.
